Our Odyssey Stories

Odyssey is proud to have established some very close relationships with our families over the years. Hopefully, their stories will provide families considering whether to enroll at Odyssey with some examples of how we treat our customers and of the contribution that we’ve made to the overall childcare environment in Birmingham.

— Here are a few of Our Odyssey Stories —

The Wang Family

The reality of returning to work after maternity leave is that my baby will spend a majority of her waking hours in the care of others. As first time parents, we cannot stress how important it is to find a daycare that could provide the best overall environment for our daughter. We toured six different schools, and Odyssey was the only one that exceeded our expectations in safety, cleanliness, education, and social development. We love every teacher at Odyssey, and it is special to witness the level of compassion, care, and dedication they have for each child at school. I drop off my daughter without worry, and I pick her up knowing that she’s had a wonderful and progressive day. This peace of mind…is priceless.

The Cromes Family

The infant classes at Odyssey are very nurturing and the teachers inform you about what your child accomplished that day and celebrate it with you. There’s never been a single day I’ve worried that my child wasn’t in the absolute best hands. They have your back if you forget something and the daily reports tell you all the important information you will need. And, it’s wonderful to know that you’re not going to be picking up your child at the end of the day from someone who barely knows your child or you.

The Latham Family

As difficult as leaving your first child is for the first time, Odyssey helped ease the anxiety with the attention, love and care they showed to our child.  We have been ecstatic with the growth our daughter has shown as she has moved through the Odyssey system, as well as the loving teachers she has experienced.

The Mitchell Family

Both of my children have been at Odyssey since they were 8 weeks old, so the staff and teachers have become family.  Seeing my children grow and thrive at Odyssey has been amazing to watch.  I am so thankful to have such wonderful people caring for my children and without a doubt I can say that every person who works at Odyssey cares for and loves each child as if they were their own.

The Foster Family

Odyssey Early School at Inverness has been a blessing to our family.  It is the welcoming smiles of the faculty, the cleanliness of the facility, the caring nature and learning atmosphere of the classrooms, and the encouraged affection that is shared amongst the students that has our family satisfied and motivated to see what our children will learn next.

The McCown Family

Odyssey offers dance, gymnastics and sports activities as part of their curriculum, giving our children a true 360-degree development.  And while all of those things are of critical importance, we have grown accustomed to Ms. Cindy’s warm greeting in the morning, Mr. Cedric’s high five on the way to the classrooms, Ms. Annie and Ms. Jennifer’s doors always being open, and the loving morning and afternoon hugs from every teacher we have ever had.  We drop our children off in the morning and smile at the thought of the hands we have put them in.

The Morman Family

Odyssey has been our children's home away from home for the last eight years.  The teachers continually provide an outstanding learning environment where our children have grown emotionally, socially, and academically.  I have no doubt my children’s love of learning is in large part a result of the diverse teaching styles and strategies Odyssey teachers implement on a daily basis.  The directors, faculty, and staff are simply amazing and are dedicated to making each and every day an unforgettable experience.

The Ray Family

One of the many reasons we chose Odyssey for our son is its focus on education.  Because my husband and I are both teachers, we have high expectations regarding curriculum and engagement, even at the preschool level.  Both caring and well-educated, Odyssey’s amazing staff ensures an appropriately challenging curriculum filled with creative play, artistic expression, and focused learning time.  I love that the weekly agenda is posted both outside the door and online, that music and art occur daily, and that themes for the week focus on engaging topics like fire safety, nutrition, and Dr. Seuss.
